CASAHL believes that migration should be an opportunity for enterprises to improve their systems and reclaim resources, rather than a painful and pricey ordeal. Our DART Product Suite was built with that goal in mind: it guides organizations through the process of upgrading to new collaboration/content platforms while reducing migration scope and preemptively identifying potential migration problems. The DART suite supports the four phases of any migration or transition project:
-
Discovery: All good migration projects start with discovery, the collection of an inventory of current collaboration platforms and services. We created Crawler, which securely and efficiently collects raw data on your current IT footprint, to automate this process so that enterprises can sift active, valuable content from accumulated archivable content before they migrate. Learn more about our Discovery product here.
-
Analysis: The second phase of the DART lifecycle, Analyzer, focuses on turning the raw data from Crawler into a detailed report of your enterprise’s current deployment, including usage patterns and content characteristics, to provide information needed to reduce the scope of the migration, identify opportunities to save, and build plans for a swift, successful migration in the next step, Rationalization. Learn more about our Analysis process here.
-
Rationalization: The third phase focuses on planning, enabling transition planners to draw on reports from Analyzer to produce a detailed prioritized migration project plans and preemptively address potential migration problems. CASAHL also uses our in-house Lifecycle Manager to bring all the inputs from the Discovery and Analysis phases together with input from users to help transition managers make the right decisions for the enterprise. Learn more about our Rationalization process here.
-
Transition: The fourth phase uses CASAHL’s uniquely powerful migration engine, ecKnowledge, to implement the migration project plan created during Rationalization. Enterprises migrating with ecKnowledge can look forward to swift automated migration of simple content, migration of complex custom apps, and – when needed – integration of collaboration/content systems with other enterprise resources, including database management systems and enterprise applications. This four-phase product suite is typically iterative and ongoing throughout the entire DART process; we’ve learned over the course of thousands of enterprise collaboration/content transitions CASAHL has carried out that having a comprehensive, iterative solution, from pre-migration planning to post-migration follow up, dramatically improves a migration’s success. Since the DART suite is a single system that works with many source and target systems – including legacy SharePoint, Notes/Domino, Google Drive, Google Sites, Exchange Public Folders, file systems, CMIS-enabled enterprise content management (ECM) platforms, and Office 365 – it’s possible to run multiple instances of Crawler and Analyzer on as many legacy systems as necessary, as many times as necessary. Periodic repeated deployment of Crawler and Analyzer is also an important step post-migration to ensure that your enterprise’s new deployment stays as orderly and efficient as it was when it was implemented.
The DART suite is periodically updated to address new types and versions of collaboration/content products and services as they are introduced, so check back soon to make sure all your legacy sources are covered, no matter how obscure. In the meantime, feel free to contact us if you’d like to learn more, and if your enterprise doesn’t want to carry out its own migration, read on to learn how we can do it for you.
